Market Drivers

The global market for mobile digital recorders and CCTV continues to grow as transport operators aim to reduce or minimise their losses from litigation and vandalism. Public safety concerns and the threat of terrorism in major capital cities are also providing a stimulus for government funding.

Customers are increasingly looking for the reliability, high quality images, ease of retrieval and flexible upgrade path provided by Synectics’ new T1000 recorder and Synergy software. With other overseas markets starting to adopt the UK lead there are good opportunities for international expansion in both bus and rail.

In addition add-on systems, such as provided by our new bus driver safety and fuel economy product which offers significant cost savings, will become increasingly important to road based customers.

Industrial Systems

Market Drivers

This sector continues to grow with customers requiring systems with greater camera counts, because of the perceived increasing security threat to their businesses. Project visibility is good because of the time taken to build oil and gas facilities.

In the past the provision of CCTV systems has been made through medium-sized specialist oil & gas telecoms integrators but, increasingly over the last few years, major international companies, such as Siemens, Alcatel, Thales, General Dynamics, and ABB have come to the fore in a sector which is truly global.

We also anticipate that the changes in the international powerbase which are already noticeable will probably accelerate in the next few years, with Chinese and Russian companies becoming active in many geographic areas.

There is significant demand in the sector for the ‘added value’ complete solutions offered by Synectics including our Synergy software based applications. We are continuing to develop our products and systems, including the introduction of High Definition and wireless technology.

Network Systems

Synectics Network Systems is a global provider of advanced surveillance system control and management solutions for a range of vertical markets and security applications. The systems utilise analogue, IP and hybrid technologies, an award-winning security management platform and enterprise class recording/storage systems, providing bespoke, high-quality solutions.

Our main market sectors include:

  • Banking
  • Gaming
  • High Security
  • Government
  • Defence

End-user customers include:

  • Salford City Council
  • Transport for London
  • Ministry of Defence
  • Thames Barrier
  • Durban Metro City Centre
  • Penn Gaming
  • Thales Group

Market Drivers

The global market for Network Systems remains attractive due to advances in technology and increasing security risks around the world, both of which continue to fuel demand for our solutions.

More specifically, an increasing demand to replace ageing and obsolete analogue security solutions with the latest digital and IP technologies and the convergence of all business services onto single IP infrastructures is accelerating the need for IP video and security management solutions.

There is also an increasing demand for the protection of Critical National Infrastructure sites such as utility installations, Government facilities and pipelines.

A new growth market has emerged to harness surveillance systems for other uses, for example using our solutions to generate revenue through traffic management.

Synectics has the skills, technology and experience to take advantage of these trends.

Market Drivers

Our integration capability supports a range of customers with security systems whose failure would be critical. The key drivers which bring customers to us are threats such as crime, terrorist activity, internal fraud, and the need to adhere to and manage processes governed by legislation.

Our Managed services business principally provides services to multi-site businesses, mainly in the retail sector, who in challenging economic times, are looking to us to provide service improvements through management of subcontractors and assets, reducing overheads as well as giving certainty on costs. This enables them to adopt a leaner organisational structure with clear functional responsibilities. Increasingly they will be looking for enhanced management information on their sites from us to improve their operational efficiency.
